Real Sports Guys Radio (RSG) was established in 2010 with the goal of talking sports from the perspective of ‘regular/real guys’. The guys who make up RSG, all range in age 30-50 years old. Additional relevant common threads for us include having graduate degrees in the social sciences (Psychology, Education, and Social Work), and alumni of Beloit College (a small liberal arts college in southern Wisconsin) where we all competed athletically. As a result, we attempt to take an introspective look at sports from a cultural, social, realistic, and comical point of view.
While RSG began in 2010 as something fun for friends to do, our show has recently grown to one of BlogTalkRadio’s most burgeoning shows which led to our recent
featured episode with Nationally Renowned scholar and author of Counterfeit Amateurs, Dr. Allen Sack. Dr. Sack was a member of Notre Dame’s 1966 National Championship team and over the past few decades has been a leading voice as an advocate of student-athletes. Dr. Sack mentioned on air that during his “30 years of doing hundreds of radio interviews, RSG was the most prepared and professional outfit I have every worked with…” Other recent featured guests include Bret Bielema (former head coach of Wisconsin Badgers and current head coach of Arkansas Razorbacks) Dr. Eric T. Mayes (Captain of University of Michigan's 1997 National Championship Team & Harvard University), Tim Terrentine (Vice President of S.W. Michigan First), and Damon A. Williams (Senior Vice President at Boys and Girls of America). Our March 2012 featured guest line up boasts the likes of Wisconsin Badger head football coach Bret Bielema, former NFL player and current philanthropist, Todd "TJ" Duckett, and trailblazer Ramogi Huma who is the president and founder of the NCPA. Our NCAA Pre-Tourney show, that aired on March 13th, featured interviews from six Division I basketball coaches who led their teams to the NCAA tournament. Kennesaw State Head Basketball Coach, Lewis Preston & former Tennessee All-American/Ohio University Head Coach Semeka Randall, stopped by to assist us in our March Madness analysis. In short, we are a small operation consisting of a Dean, Psychologist, Professor, and Social Worker dedicated to providing our audience and guests with a quality experience.
